We enjoyed the friendly atmosphere from the moment we arrived, the helpfulness of the staff and the attentiveness without staff being 'in your face' all the time
I'm not sure if I missed it or it wasn't there but a comment on no lift would have been helpful as I find stairs difficult and would have requested a ground floor room had there been somewhere on the form more noticeable, next time I will call the hotel direct just to make sure.
Comfortable room with plenty of space. Pleasant grounds in a good location. I had guests for dinner and they were impressed by the food, service and atmosphere.
Piped music, annoying at the best of times and I could hear it even in my room until 11pm.
Felt more like a 5# hotel with gents asked to wear ties to dinner Lounge more relaxed and food ok in it. Staff all very helpful and plesant. Room a god size comfy and warm.
Advertised a gym on the web site but this you have to pay for and is at a site a 5 min drive away - a little cheeky I feel.
The food was good, the staff were helpful and polite
Asked for a quiet rood and allocated the noisiest above reception. Room tatty and unclean round the edges.
Good base for my business trip which included visits to Lancaster, Blackpool, Preston and Bolton.
The Restaurant menu could have a bit more variety.
Good welcome and comfortable room . Reception we attended in the evening was good with ggod food and well trained , polite , helpful staff .
Lack of air conditioning on a hot June day .Shower over bath instead of separate shower in a large bathroom .
Friendly staff, comfortable room, good food, fair price.Ticked all the boxes for me.
Stayed in room 16 I would ask for different room on next visit due to noise from external extractor fan.
We were at a wedding which was lovely only comment I could make was there could have been more bar staff on at the night do.
It was a nice building and the setting was good. The breakfast was nice.
The heating in my room wasnt working and was very cold on arrival.
I was given an upgrade to an executive room which was very much appreciated and the service was very good. The Prawn starter was so good I had it both nights.
The hot water seemed to run out very quickly, there was hardly enough time to wash the shampoo from my hair before it went cold. This wouldn't stop me returning to this hotel.
The willigness of the Staff to be of real help and, to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.
Too few Staff at Reception;I did not envisage the Reception to be unmanned whilst one was pouring drinks in the bar and one carrying luggage. During this time Wedding Reception was in full cry-almost a catastrophe.
Originally was given an old room, but asked to be moved as the room was in dis-repair and quite grubby. New room was excellent.
I stayed for 2 nights and on my first morning I woke to find that there was no running water in my room (or anywhere else in the hotel as I found out later!). I understand that these things can happen, but the attitude of the staff was very poor - I was offered a bottle of chilled water to wash with, and when I asked for a refund or discount because of it, the manageress refused to talk to me, instead she had the girl on reception coming backwards and forwards on her behalf. I wasn't offered any kind of discount / refund and was simply told that if there was still a problem with the water when I returned that night, then they would try to move me to another hotel. Very, very poor attitude from the manageress and I wouldn't stay here again!
Beautiful building and grounds and interior well maintained and fits perfectly with building.
Price as they add an extra £30 to your bill without telling you on arrival in case of damages etc but deduct it when you check out. It takes maximum out of your account and have to wait for the extra £30 to be re-debited to you.
